Felipe Gonçalves

Filipe Guerreiro Gonçalves, known as Filipe Gonçalves, is a Portuguese rejoneador (mounted bullfighter) born on September 22, 1979, in Ferreiras, Portugal. His bullfighting training began at the Bullfighting Schools of Durango and Don Bull CDMX.

Took the Alternative: May 22, 2005, in Moita do Ribatejo. His padrino (sponsor) was João Moura, with Rui Fernandes as witness. Bull ranch: Ortigão Costa.

Training: Filipe Gonçalves developed his passion for rejoneo in the Albufeira bullring, beginning his journey with horseback riding lessons. He trained under Jorge D’Ourique, and later with Manuel Jorge de Oliveira and João Salgueiro. He made his debut as a rejoneador in 1998 and took the alternative in 2005 in Moita do Ribatejo, sponsored by João Moura and with Rui Fernandes as witness.

Notable Festivals:

In Lisbon, at Campo Pequeno, he has performed multiple times in the “Corrida do Emigrante,” standing out for his banderillas, command of the bull, and structured lidia.
In Terceira Island (Azores), during the 2019 Sanjoaninas fair, he earned two laps of honor (vueltas al ruedo).
In Granja (Portugal), at a 2020 bullfighting festival, he shared the bill with fellow rejoneadores Rui Fernandes, João Ribeiro Telles, Duarte Fernandes, Paco Velásquez, among others. His performance was uneven—marked by moments of technical brilliance, yet also some inconsistency.

Awards and Major Achievements:

He has earned multiple laps of honor (vueltas al ruedo) at festivals and bullfights across Portugal, including in Terceira Island during the Sanjoaninas fair and other events.
