Biography of Javier Marín

Javier Marín, the professional name of Javier Igea Sainz, is one of the Navarrese novilleros who has shaped his career through perseverance and personal dedication. With no family tradition in bullfighting and without formal training in specialised schools, his passion began in the popular festivities of Navarre, an environment that influenced both his style and his character in the ring.

His first public appearances came in 2011, when he performed before fans in Villasequilla (Toledo), leaving a strong impression after cutting two ears. That same year he made his debut without picadors in his hometown, beginning a steady rise through the junior ranks.

In 2013 he took an important step by making his debut with picadors in Tudela, facing young bulls from Manuel Ángel Millares. Sharing the bill with Javier Jiménez and Jesús Duque, he earned a trophy and completed a lap of honour that strengthened his growing reputation. From then on, he began to stand out in several fairs, becoming the overall winner of the Lodosa novillada series and gaining recognition across northern Spain.

The 2014 season confirmed his progression when he received the “Cigüeña de Oro” award in Alfaro, a distinction that highlighted both his development and consistency. Over the years he added significant appearances to his record, including notable performances at fairs such as Arganda del Rey and Fitero, where he was carried out on shoulders.

One of the most important milestones of his career came with his presentation at the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas, a key stage for any young bullfighter. There he demonstrated his classic concept of bullfighting and his ability to connect with the crowd, cutting an ear and opening new expectations for the future.

A committed bullfighter with a strong personality, Javier Marín has forged his path from the grassroots, supported by constant evolution and a vision of bullfighting that blends purity with dedication to the public.
